My best friend, Diana, recently lost her grandmother, and this fundraiser is to help with the expenses she is now facing on her own.

Diana’s grandma was more than just a grandparent, she was like a mother to her and the person who raised her. Because of this, her loss has been incredibly personal and painful.

During the two years I had the privilege of living with Diana, I witnessed firsthand just how much she did for her grandmother. She regularly went out of her way to take her to doctors’ appointments, pick up her prescriptions, and care for her on her days off. As her grandmother’s health declined, Diana spent even more time staying at her grandmother’s home, helping with everyday necessities such as cooking, bathing, cleaning, and making sure she was safe and okay.

It has been devastating for Diana to lose someone she spent years caring for and doing everything she could to keep her healthy, all while hoping to have just a little more time together. Unfortunately, her abuelita is no longer here.

On top of the immense grief she is experiencing, Diana is now having to cover the costs of her grandmother’s cremation on her own. She has already used all of her savings, after years of helping care for her grandmother and contributing toward medical expenses. Even while grieving such a profound loss, she still has to continue showing up to work, adding even more emotional and financial strain during an already incredibly difficult time.

Donations will help cover the cremation expenses, some of the remaining medical bills, and the cost of a memorial service where Diana and her family can come together to honor and celebrate her grandmother’s life and memory.

Mi mejor amiga, Diana, perdió recientemente a su abuelita, y estamos haciendo esta recaudación de fondos para ayudarla con los gastos que ahora tiene que enfrentar por su cuenta.

La abuelita de Diana no era solamente su abuela, era como una mamá para ella. Fue quien la crió y siempre estuvo ahí para ella. Por eso, perderla ha sido algo muy doloroso y difícil para Diana.

Durante los dos años que tuve la oportunidad de vivir con Diana, pude ver de cerca todo lo que hacía por su abuelita. La llevaba a sus citas médicas, recogía sus medicinas y se quedaba con ella para cuidarla. Cuando la salud de su abuelita empezó a empeorar, Diana comenzó a pasar todavía más tiempo con ella, ayudándola con cosas de todos los días como cocinar, bañarla, limpiar y asegurarse de que estuviera bien.

Ha sido muy duro para Diana perder a una persona por la que pasó tantos años cuidando y haciendo todo lo posible para que estuviera bien. Hizo todo lo que pudo, siempre con la esperanza de poder tener un poco más de tiempo con ella. Pero, tristemente, su abuelita ya no está aquí.

Y además de estar pasando por todo este dolor, Diana ahora tiene que hacerse cargo de los gastos de la cremación por su cuenta. Después de tantos años ayudando a cuidar a su abuelita y también contribuyendo con sus gastos médicos, Diana ya ha gastado todos sus ahorros. Aun con todo lo que está viviendo, tiene que seguir trabajando, lo que hace que esta situación sea todavía más difícil, tanto emocional como económicamente.

Las donaciones ayudarán a cubrir los gastos de la cremación, algunas de las cuentas médicas que todavía quedaron pendientes y un servicio conmemorativo donde Diana y su familia puedan reunirse para despedirse, recordar y celebrar la vida de su abuelita.
