On January 21, 2026 the world of a beloved family of our Mountain Oaks School community was turned upside down, when their son, Mason, was rushed to the hospital following a devastating accident. He was later transported to UC Davis Medical Center, where he is receiving intensive, life-saving care.

Mason sustained severe third-degree burns over approximately 80% of his body. While he is currently stable, his condition remains extremely serious. He has already undergone emergency procedures to relieve swelling and will require multiple complex surgeries in the weeks and months ahead. Doctors expect Mason to remain on a ventilator for an extended period, followed by a long hospital stay and an extensive rehabilitation process.

Mason's family is facing unimaginable emotional and physical strain. Hospital visitations are limited to one parent at a time, leaving some of the family home anxiously awaiting updates. This includes his younger sister, a current student at Mountain Oaks School. Mason's mother, Roxanna, a dedicated board member at Mountain Oaks, remains by his side during this time, while also trying to hold her family together.

As the family focuses entirely on Mason's survival and recovery, they are also facing the fact that there will be extreme medical bills, times away from work, travel costs and the daily needs of caring for their family at home. This GoFundMe has been created to help ease that burden so the Rabe family can focus on what matter's most - Mason's healing.
