Steve & Ruthann Car Accident Relief

Steve and Ruthann were in a terrible car accident on Friday, January 19th when they were rear-ended on the freeway by an uninsured motorist driving a vehicle while weaving through traffic at 100 mph. The collision pushed Steve and Ruthann into the center divider and then across traffic into a train. While trapped in the vehicle witnesses ran to assist in hopes to free them from the truck as a second train approached the scene. The second train was successfully, and thankfully stopped before colliding with their truck. They are both currently admitted into separate hospitals recovering from surgeries and injuries.

Ruthann is a second grade teacher who has dedicated her life to educating children for over 25 years. Steve and Ruthann have been married for 40 years and have lived their lives in service of those less fortunate including opening up their home as foster parents for more than 9 kids at a time. Steve goes to work with Ruthann everyday as her assistant. He is also on dialysis and Ruthann is his acting care giver performing his dialysis at home.

Both Steve & Ruthann have suffered trauma to their upper torso, broken ribs and broken arms. Steve also has a broken hip and 3 breaks in his back which had to be surgically repaired.  Aside from the costs of the initial treatment there will be ongoing costs related to their recovery (physical therapy/follow ups) and we all know that health care in not inexpensive.

Only one of them has limited health insurance and assistance during this most unfortunate time would be so greatly appreciated.  My parents are two wonderful people who have a long road of recovery ahead of them and each donation will help alleviate the stress associated with the upcoming medical costs.
