With the family’s blessing, I was given the okay to set up a GoFundMe in order to help alleviate the unexpected and unknown amount of medical bills and physical therapy. In the early morning of Sunday, 01/11/2026, Isabel was a victim of an unfortunate crime.

Despite the gravity of the situation, she clung to life as paramedics arrived and swiftly transported her to the hospital. She underwent surgery due to the severity of her injuries. Hours felt like days as our family anxiously awaited an update on her condition. When the surgeon finally arrived and provided an update, we were informed that Isabel’s situation was critical and required immediate attention. She had been stabbed between 8-12 times, puncturing her left lung, her spleen, which had to be removed, and a cut to her pancreas. As well as, several deep slash defensive wounds to her left arm. She was scheduled for a follow-up surgery to ensure proper functioning of her internal organs and to confirm that the surgeon had not overlooked any wounds. Isabel remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) undergoing recovery and receiving medical treatment. The duration of her stay in the ICU is uncertain due to the severity of her injuries.

Of course, no one anticipates such a distressing event, but they do occur. We are uncertain of the extent to which our mother’s insurance and disability benefits will cover her medical expenses and for how long. The family is deeply grateful for any donations received to assist Isabel with the upcoming medical bills, as well as for physical therapy for her arm and hand.
