This weekend, the brother of one of my students was detained by immigration. His name is Steven, he is only eighteens years old, and he is here legally. His mother is a single mother of four, and Steven has been working to help the family financially since his seventeenth birthday. Steven attends college on a scholarship for sales and works selling kitchenware to help his mother. While in New York for a sales conference, he was racially profiled and detained by immigration.

Funds will be used for immigration lawyers, possible travel expenses (as the family is in CA), and supplemental income to help their mother as she raises her other three children, ages 3, 5, and 10.
