Stand with Nepal after the 2026 floods

On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, a sudden flood from the Nepal–China border tore down the Bhote Koshi into the Trishuli and Narayani rivers. Riverside villages in Rasuwa were swept away first. The water then ripped through Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Tanahun, Chitwan, and Nawalparasi. Homes, bridges, roads, and hydropower plants were destroyed. Entire settlements disappeared under mud.
Hundreds of lives have already been lost. Hundreds more remain missing — neighbors in those valleys, security personnel who were on duty, and visitors who had come to trek or make a pilgrimage. That includes dozens of Americans, and travelers from more than 30 other countries. Families here in the United States are still waiting for word.
This fundraiser is how our community helps from here: rescue, shelter, and the long work of rehabilitation. Every net dollar goes to Nepal’s official Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.

3. Our relationship to the people we are raising funds for
We are the Board of Directors of the Nepal Seattle Society, working in collaboration with Nepali community organizations across Washington State. Supporting the people of Nepal during natural disasters is an important part of our mission.
We are not a government agency and do not directly distribute aid on the ground in Nepal. Instead, we raise donations from Washington State residents, the Nepali diaspora, and friends of Nepal, and then transfer those funds to Nepal's official national relief fund.
4. How the funds will be spent
100% of the net proceeds (after GoFundMe’s processing fee) will be wired to the Government of Nepal’s official Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund.
How the money will move:
• Donations are collected on this GoFundMe page.
• Funds are withdrawn to Nepal Seattle Society’s U.S. bank account.
• NSS will wire the full net amount to the official government account.
• We will post the bank-transfer receipt at nepalseattle.org and NSS official Social Media post
This is not a private collection. It is a community conduit to the official fund the Government of Nepal has asked the public to use.
Even $25 or $50 helps. Please share this page with family, friends, and community groups.
Thank you from the Board of Directors of Nepal Seattle Society .
