Love 4 Lindy Rae: Let's Rally to Kick Cancer!

Cancer makes me want to scream. And I know I'm not alone in this.

WHO WE ARE

HI, my name is Amy and I'm fundraising on behalf of my little sister Lindy. She’s pictured above on the right, with me and her niece, my daughter, Zoe.

WHY WE’RE ASKING FOR HELP

I'm fundraising in an attempt to raise $5,400 to cover these first few months of cancer treatment expenses. This includes nutrition, co-pays, medicine, and help with rent. Also, we'd love for her to see a specialist who is outside of her insurance.

Like so very many Americans, Lindy doesn't have a nest egg or great insurance.

LINDY’S STORY

Lindy is 38 now, and was originally diagnosed when she was just 30 years old. She got the got the call that no one wants, especially when so young: She tested positive for breast cancer, the same hereditary breast cancer that our mother, Dolly, had. (As well as our uncle, and looking back, our probably was the cause of our grandfather’s and great-aunts’ cancers too.)

Lindy’s treatment was really hard. She battled through it. She's a survivor.

Now the cancer is back, and Lindy is going to fight again. In those years since her original diagnosis, she has become a badass chef who likes sharp knives and fire, a cat mom to two well-loved cats, Sleater-Kitty (homage to the band Sleater-Kinney) and Debbie Kittson, after Debbie Gibson. She is sister-in-law to Josh and "Auntie Pants" to her favorite humans, Eli (age 17) and Zoe (age 13.) She loves cooking, baseball, trivia, and has an truly uncanny pro level of knowledge about the British monarchy.
