Pre-college retreat: So, what now?
Cultivating strong emotional health & support is positively associated with college completion rates of African Americans--who have roughly 50% lower graduation rates. THESE young ladies WILL be in the graduating 50%! This 2-day retreat for 12 college-bound young ladies is to demystify leaving home for higher education. Society tells us that at '18' we are adults but experience doesn't substantiate this and guidance is needed. This retreat will extend mentorship and focus on personal and academic advocacy, sex and sex politics, balling on a budget, self-care & self-compassion, managing at an HBCU or PWI. And it will all occur within the safety and warm embrace of sisterhood.
Please invest in the individual and collective success of these young ladies through your financial contribution.
