Sheri Burgess-Hertner, Team Canada!

Hi Everyone,

Our very own, teacher extraordinaire, Sheri Burgess-Hertner has qualified as a triathlete for a spot on Team Canada in the 2025 Age Group WORLD Championships taking place in Wollongong, Australia in October, 2025.

Sheri has been a teacher in our community for 25 years and has had an incredible, positive, and memorable impact on not only thousands of children, but also parents and families too. Sheri is the kind of teacher that will arrive really early to offer free tutoring for students when she can. She is the mastermind behind the grade 8 grad trips. She is also the one who spear heads Track and Field, and Running Club. As a dedicated teacher, she cherishes not only the students in her class but all those that attend our school, past and present.

Sheri has been racing triathlons for a couple of years now, and she is a:

1 x Ironman Finisher (finishing 18th in her Age Group)

2 x Half Iron Man Finisher (finishing in 5th and 6th in her Age Group, back to back years)

2 x 1st place Long Course Triathlete

1 x 2nd place Long Course Triathlete

This past summer, she raced in the Olympic Distance, 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride, and 10km run where she finished in 2nd place!!

This once in a lifetime opportunity is inspiring, motivating, and incredibly remarkable.

She has taken on various part-time positions in addition to her full-time teaching position to help with the financial costs that she will incur for this event.

In speaking with a large group of parents, we wanted to set this Go Fund Me account up for Sheri so that she can pursue this dream of hers, and to show her that the Rockton community and surrounding area are right behind her, encouraging her every step of the way.
