Shea Marie MacKenzie and Family
Donation protected
I am reaching out to our entire community and beyond. In July 2019 my 16-year-old niece Shea Marie Mackenzie noticed a lump in her neck. Her mother took her to the doctors and they stated it was just a swollen gland and it would dissipate on it’s own. As time went on the lump began to grow in her neck and it caused her discomfort. Shea and her mother went in to visit another doctor for a second opinion. The doctor immediately ordered bloodwork and some testing to be done due to the location of the lump. Three months later after many tests and a biopsy that was painful and unsuccessful Shea and her parents were sent to Stanford university where they began vigorous testing and another biopsy to get a solid diagnosis. Stanford notified the Mackenzie family that she has stage 2a Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It is a type of malignant cancer of the lymph system, which forms a critical part of the immune system our bodies need to fight disease. The cause of Hodgkin’s lymphoma is unknown. This has been a devastating blow to Shea and her family. Shea has been an active young lady her entire life. She grew up in beauty pageants, gymnastics, singing, modeling, IPOP, dancing and theater. She is an outgoing, adventurous, fun, loving junior at Arroyo Grande high school with an amazing group of friends and family that support her in every way. Shea is a beautiful soul that has her whole life ahead of her. Her parents are hard-working people that both work to manage the household finances. Shea’s parents would never reach out to ask for assistance that is why we as a community need to step in and take the burden off of them all especially Shea. Any little bit helps with all of the traveling and medical expenses we don’t ever want Shea to worry about how her parents will be able to afford this endeavor. Thank you for your donations and extra prayer.
