# SG Helps Ukraine

A roof over our heads. A meal on the table. Peace and quiet when we go to bed at night. All the simple things we had taken for granted. Many, many Ukrainians were robbed of their lives after Russia had decided to invade Ukraine in February 2022. There are women who had to flee with the clothes on their back, bringing the old and the children with them. Children who are torn away from their fathers who had to fight for their freedom and the old who wonder if they will survive the journey and eventually see their homeland again.

 

Every encounter with the Ukrainians seek to remind us of how fortunate and blessed we are, to be able to live our lives as we wish, in the warmth of our homes and the safety of our countries. And to hear our children laugh with joy, their fundamental right as children. Deeply touched by the pain and suffering caused by the war and how fortunate we are in our lives, a group of us have decided to do our very best to help in any way we could, to lessen the pain the Ukrainians have to suffer.

The SG Help initiative is started by a group of volunteers who would like to contribute in any way possible to help those displaced by the war. Our contributions to date include:

- Sending medical/food/daily supplies to Ukraine to support medical institutions, displaced people and other partner organisations on the ground.

- Providing support to Ukrainian families in the Netherlands displaced through the supply of daily necessities and any other forms of help they need.

- Providing logistical/organisational/communications support to other fellow volunteers/organisations so that the flow of aid to Ukraine could be facilitated.

- Supporting other refugees in general so they can have a humane and reasonable living environment.

And we strive to :

- Provide help in the most cost efficient manner to make our donors contributions go the extra mile and provide full transparency and accountability with regards to the use of funds.

- We prioritise help to doctors/ medical institutions as we are able to make a real impact of life vs death through our support.
