Dear Community,
We are reaching out with both pride and urgency.
In 2025, because of you, we reached our $10,000 fundraising goal for Sew Green Fashion Camp. But the need was far greater than we anticipated. We ultimately provided over $30,000 in scholarships to ensure young designers could attend camp regardless of financial barriers.
Today, we are preparing for Sew Green Fashion Camp 2026, and we need your help again.
The current funding climate has become increasingly challenging. Government support for the arts is being reduced — particularly for organizations that center cultural pride, heritage, and creative expression. At the same time, the demand for specialized, culturally grounded programs like ours has doubled. Families are seeking safe, empowering spaces where young people can learn skills, explore identity, and build confidence through creativity.
We are raising $20,000 to support Sew Green Fashion Camp 2026 — a transformative six-week experience where youth learn:
• Sewing & Fashion Design
• Upcycling & Sustainable Practices
• Entrepreneurship
• Textile & Fiber Arts
• Cultural Craft Traditions
• Self-expression and leadership
Your donation will help fund:
• Transportation for weekly field trips
• Nutritious snacks and water for campers
• Camp t-shirts and essential supplies
• ✂️ Sewing machines and tools
• Scholarships for students in need
• Studio improvements and materials
Our mission is rooted in sustainability and equity. We reuse and repurpose materials whenever possible. We stretch every dollar. But scholarships, equipment, and safe creative spaces require real financial investment.
Whether it’s $5 or $500, your contribution directly supports a young person discovering their creative power.
If we reached $10,000 together last year, imagine what we can do now — together.
Please donate today and share this campaign with your network. Help us continue sewing opportunity, confidence, and cultural pride into the next generation.
With gratitude and determination,
Black Girls Sew ✂️✨
