“The Dome”

Fans of Eagle River and its hockey tradition are affectionate about “The Dome”, and its rich history. The Dome needs your help.  When construction started on the stadium in 1925, this building was thought to live forever. The youth of our communities would always have a place to skate, unwind, compete and learn the love of skating and the game of hockey.

The Dome is the last one standing of its kind in the world, created by architect, Max Hanisch Sr.  He built three of these Dome’s, and Eagle River is proud to have the only remaining one. As one of the oldest rinks in the country, this historical building needs your help.  Mother Nature and the hands of time have weathered the Dome, and it is in need of major repair.  The Eagle River Recreational Association (ERRA), a non-profit organization, has launched a capital fund raising campaign to renovate and repair the Dome so it can last another 90 years.

Anyone that has set foot in this place can feel the tradition, sense of wonderment, engineering, and ingenuity that went into the architecture of this magnificent stadium.  The lamella design is like no other and one can stare for hours at the interweaving structure of wood.  You can only imagine the time, manpower, and community spirit that must have poured through the veins of the locals that built it.

Please help and be a part of saving a piece of hockey history.
