Urban Engineering for a Sustainable Future
Human want is infinite, while necessities are quantifiable.
Wants: Money, clothes, cars, appliances, stuff, etc.
Needs: Food, water, shelter, oxygen.
money gathered will be used for future growth of this organization. We can no longer discuss climate change, so action must be taken on this worldwide epidemic! To give future generations pure air to breathe, potable drinking water, and food.
Detroit, Michigan as many of you know, has hundreds of vacant blocks with very little to no houses on them. I want to turn these into beautiful landscapes with the help of volunteers and urban engineers. There will be trees, flowers, even fruits and vegetables growing throughout these neighborhoods. Benefits to the community and environment will be food grown (urban farming), perennial flower gardens to support the bee population, green roof systems and vertical gardens will purify oxygen. Detroit, MI is steadily reviving itself and making something out of these vacant lots will help contribute to its growth. Not to mention, it will bring back life to neighborhoods and communities as a whole.
My main goal here is to educate the public on how easy it is to minimize waste and make the world a better place in our daily lives. From composting, to irrigation systems, to simply planting flowers, fruits, vegetables, herbs, and trees. The goal is to help educate the public on these topics and show them with action how easy it can be to achieve self-sustainability.
