Ellen Kirwin Memorial Fund – “Save The Station”
As many of you know, Ellen Kirwin passed away on March 5. Ellen was a vibrant, generous soul whose warmth, creativity, and hospitality touched countless lives. Her beloved home, The Station , which was established as a Southampton Town Landmark in 2013, was more than just a house—it was a gathering place, a garden of creativity, and a refuge for friends, family, artists, and neighbors. So many memories were made there.
The Shinnecock Hills Train Station and Post Office at 100 Hills Station Road, was built in 1887. In recent years, The Station has fallen into disrepair, and we are now working to restore and preserve the home Ellen and her family loved so dearly. Our goal is not only to repair the house and gardens, but to honor Ellen and her late husband Rob's spirit by keeping The Station alive as a place where community, creativity, and friendship can continue to flourish.
We are asking our community for help in a few ways:
- Financial contributions to help cover essential repairs, materials, and restoration costs.
- Hands-on help from anyone with skills in home repair, painting, carpentry, electric, plumbing, landscaping, gardening, or general cleanup.
- Donation of building materials, supplies, appliances, etc.
We are planning a Celebration of Life at The Station on June 27, 2026, but there is a great deal of work to do before we can gather there safely and comfortably. Every donation, every hour of labor, and every shared effort will bring us one step closer to making that possible.
