Save the GIFT

For over 30  years, supporters of  the Gift A Christmas Carol, combined their creative efforts to present a musical theatre  production of A Christmas Carol and offered it , free of charge to the public at the NDNU Theatre in Belmont, California.  Over the 30 years of performances, over 150,000 people, from all areas of the San Francisco bay area, as well as people from other regions, states and countries, attended the  performances. Audience members donated over 30 tons of non perishable food and over 40,000 toys for distribution to community charitable organizations.  In 2017, access to its traditional theatre facility was withdrawn and the Gift was forced to cease production. The performance productions materials such as costumes, properties and scenic components were put into storage containers for preservation toward the goal of reviving the performances at a different venue.   The most important production elements have been consolidated into one freight container which must be moved from the current site in Belmont, to another setting.  In accomplishing this move, the Save the Gift volunteers will succeed in preserving the iconic, and irreplaceable production materials and items which are essential to the efforts to revive the  Christmas Carol performances as a Gift to the community.  

 The challenge at hand is to secure funds to purchase the storage container from the university and to pay for the transportation of it to a new, temporary and ultimately permanent location.The funds requested include $750. for purchase of the storage container from the university, $750.00.for trucking transport to temporary storage sites and $1000. for long term storage site rental fee and deposit beginning August 5th.
