Save Incline Village Cinema

The Incline Village Cinema became a part of our family in 2002 out of a deep love for the cinema and the Tahoe–Truckee community.  We are the only family owned and operated independent movie theatre chain with a mission to bring you quality entertainment with an at home welcoming feeling to our loyal locals and visitors alike!  The Incline Village Cinema is run by our family, we are long-time locals who take pride in our small town theatre and in the relationships that have formed over our 19 years in business.  Our three children have grown up in the cinema…our two daughters use to sit on the counter watching their mom sell tickets with a friendly smile and greeting guests by name daily.  Over the years, Incline Village Cinema has become known for not only showing the highest quality blockbuster first run movies, but also bringing independent films, film festivals and Academy Award winning films.  We like to go the extra mile for our private parties and corporate events.  Our specially made movie theatre popcorn is one of a kind and is our locals favorite.  It was highly requested the we open up for popcorn pickup so locals can enjoy our one of a kind fresh and delicious popcorn at home now.

The COVID19 pandemic has hit movie theatres especially hard this year.  We are in the business of bringing people together in our small town movie theatre but the pandemic has brought that to a drastic halt.  The Incline Village Cinema doors were closed on 03/17/20…we are now able to reopen but at a 25% capacity with face masks and social distancing measures is the first hurdle.  The second hurdle is the film studios have no new releases for us to return with.  In order to survive…we had to pivot with popcorn pickup and VIP Private Movie Theatre Rentals.  Looking ahead we are faced with two major challenges for survival: Studios are delaying all blockbusters movies until the spring and summer of 2021 because of the pandemic, so we have no movies to play on the big screen.  Another challenge is that a majority of our loyal locals are not yet comfortable to return to the movie theatre because of COVID.  We have taken every measure possible to make the theatre safe for our guests.  However, we are barely getting any guests to come and see a movie.  We can’t survive on these numbers, and are in fact losing money just by opening our doors.

Incline Village Cinema faces the very real possibility that we will have no new movies to show until the pandemic gets under control.  We don’t expect the movie theatre industry to rebound until summer or fall of 2021.  Currently we need our communities help to survive and keep our small town movie theatre in operation for the next six to nine months.  We will use any money raised to pay for all operating expenses.

We love being a part of the Tahoe-Truckee community.  We hope to weather this storm and look forward to the day when we can welcome our loyal locals and visitors back with a friendly family smile, delicious popcorn, first run blockbuster movies and bringing family and friends back together again.
