Emrah, a 16-year-old boy who should have his whole life ahead of him.

Emrah, a boy marked by severe scoliosis, a curvature of the spine. He has no good prospects in Albania. The doctors here cannot operate on him. He must go abroad for the urgently needed surgery, in this case to Turkey. There, the operation would cost €26,000. But how is a poor family in one of the poorest countries in Europe supposed to raise that kind of money? It always hits the poorest of the poor the hardest!

Right now, Emrah is stuck at home instead of going to school because he can't climb the stairs to get to the classroom. Going out, doing things with other young people, is impossible. Pursuing an apprenticeship – all of that is impossible without the necessary surgery. The limitations caused by the scoliosis are significant and affect his breathing, various organs, and his musculoskeletal system. What will Emrah's future be like? What is his quality of life and life expectancy? Uncertainty and further restrictions are foreseeable.

We German Capuchins have a mission station in Fushë-Arrëz with an outpatient clinic, a small health center, from which we try to help young people like Emrah, among others. Brother Jeremias is a nurse and head of this clinic. He has been accompanying Emrah for about a year and is worried that the rapidly worsening curvature and the resulting deteriorating physical limitations, which could lead to a dramatic situation with impaired heart and lung function, could result if the operation cannot be performed.

For this reason, he and some of the clinic staff have launched this appeal and urgently request support for Emrah.

Who supports Emrah?:

We are Brother Jeremias, Gerald, and Angelos, and the team at the outpatient clinic in Fushë-Arrëz, Albania.

Brother Jeremias has been a Capuchin friar for 34 years, a Franciscan-minded and acting person, a religious brother, nurse, and priest. In 2022, he decided to support the team at the mission station in Fushë-Arrëz and to offer his services as a nurse, especially to the poor people of this region.

Working alongside him for the benefit of the people are his two assistants, Gerald and Angelos. Both come from a village near Fushë-Arrëz and have been supporting Brother Jeremias for about two years.

With the support of the German Capuchin Province, the three of them, together with the other members of the religious order in Fushë-Arrëz, can accomplish a great deal and, with your support, hopefully also help Emrah.

Emrah, ein 16-jähriger Junge, der sein Leben eigentlich noch vor sich hat.

Emrah, ein Junge, der von einer schweren Skolliose, Rückgratverkrümmung, gezeichnet ist. In Albanien hat er keine gute Perspektive. Die Ärzte können ihn hier nicht operieren. Er muß für die dringend notwendige Operation ins Ausland, in dem Fall in die Türkei. Hier würde er für 26.000,- € operiert. Aber wie soll eine arme Familie in einem der ärmsten Länder Europas dieses Geld aufbringen? Es trifft immer die ärmsten der Armen!

Im Moment sittz Emrah zu Hause, statt die Schule zu besuchen, denn dort kann er die Treppen nicht steigen, um in den Klassenraum zu kommen.

Ausgehen, gemeinsam mit anderen jugendlichen etwas unternehmen ist nicht möglich.

Eine Ausbildung machen – all das ist nicht möglich ohne die notwendige Operation

Die Einschränkungen durch die Skolliose sind erheblich und betreffen die Atmung, verschiedene Organe und den Bewegungsapparat.

Emrah’s Zukunft, Lebensqualität und Lebensdauer? Ungewiß und weitere Einschränkungen sind voraussehbar.

Wir deutschen Kapuziner haben in Fushë-Arrëz eine Missionsstation mit einer Ambulanz, einem kleinen Gesundheitszentrum, von der aus wir unter anderem versuchen Jugendlichen wie Emrah zu helfen. Buder Jeremias ist Krankenpfleger und Leiter dieser Ambulanz. Er begleitet Emrah seit ca. einem Jahr und ist in Sorge, ob der stark zunehmenden Verkrümmung und den dadurch schlimmer werdenden körperlichen Einschränkungen, die Einschränkungen der Herz- und Lungenfunktion zu einem dramatischen Zustand führen können, wenn die Operation nicht getätigt werden kann.

Aus diesem Grunde haben er und einige Mitarbeiter in der Ambulanz diesen Aufruf gestartet und bitten dringend um Unterstützung für Emrah.

Br. Jeremias ist seit 34 Jahren Kapuziner, also ein franziskanisch denkender und handelnder Mensch und Ordensmann, Krankenpfleger und Priester. Er hat sich 2022 entschieden, das Team der Missiosstation in Fushë-Arrëz zu unterstützen und seine Dienste als Krankenpfleger besonders den armen Menschen dieser Region zur Verfügung zu stellen.

Zusammen mit ihm arbeiten zum Wohle der Menschen seine beiden Assistenten Gerald und Angelos. Beide stammen aus einem Dorf nahe Fushë-Arrëz und unterstützen Br. Jeremias seit gut 2 Jahren.

Emrah, një djalë 16-vjeçar që duhet ta ketë gjithë jetën përpara.

Emrah, një djalë i diagnostifikuar me skolioz te rëndë, një lakim i shtyllës kurrizore. Ai nuk ka perspektiva të mira në Shqipëri. Mjekët këtu nuk mund ta operojnë. Ai duhet të shkojë jashtë vendit për ndërhyrjen kirurgjikale urgjente, në këtë rast në Turqi. Atje, operacioni do të kushtonte 26,000 euro. Por si mund të mbledhë një familje e varfër në një nga vendet më të varfra në Evropë kaq shumë para? Gjithmonë i godet më rëndë më të varfrit e të varfërve!

Tani për tani, Emrah është i bllokuar në shtëpi në vend që të shkojë në shkollë sepse nuk mund të ngjitet shkallët për të shkuar në klasë. Të dalësh jashtë, të bësh gjëra me të rinj të tjerë, është e pamundur. Të ndjekësh një praktikë - e gjithë kjo është e pamundur pa ndërhyrjen kirurgjikale të nevojshme. Kufizimet e shkaktuara nga skolioza janë të konsiderueshme dhe ndikojnë në frymëmarrjen e tij, organe të ndryshme dhe sistemin e tij muskuloskeletor. Si do të jetë e ardhmja e Emrah? Si është cilësia e jetës së tij dhe jetëgjatësia? Pasiguria dhe kufizime të mëtejshme janë të parashikueshme.

Ne kapuçinët gjermanë kemi një stacion misionar në Fushë-Arrëz me një klinikë ambulatore, një qendër të vogël shëndetësore, nga e cila përpiqemi të ndihmojmë të rinj si Emrah, ndër të tjerë. Vëllai Jeremias është infermier dhe drejtues i kësaj klinike. Ai e ka shoqëruar Emrah për rreth një vit dhe është i shqetësuar se lakimi që po përkeqësohet me shpejtësi dhe kufizimet fizike që vijnë si pasojë e tij, të cilat mund të çojnë në një situatë dramatike me funksion të dëmtuar të zemrës dhe mushkërive, mund të rezultojnë nëse operacioni nuk mund të kryhet.

Për këtë arsye, ai dhe disa nga stafi i klinikës kanë nisur këtë apel dhe kërkojnë urgjentisht mbështetje për Emrah.

Në vitin 2022, ai vendosi të mbështeste ekipin në stacionin e misionit në Fushë-Arrëz dhe të ofronte shërbimet e tij si infermier, veçanërisht për njerëzit e varfër të këtij rajoni.

Përkrah tij punojnë për të mirën e popullit dy asistentët e tij, Gerald dhe Angelos. Të dy vijnë nga një fshat pranë Fushë-Arrëzit dhe e kanë mbështetur Vëllain Jeremias për rreth dy vjet.
