Batcat needs life-saving surgery soon. Unexpectedly, this weekend Batcat started having trouble breathing, with very rapid and shallow breaths. We rushed him to the emergency vet to find out that his chest cavity was filled with lymphatic fluid; his lungs and heart were floating in his chest. Batcat was then diagnosed with a rare disease called idiopathic chylothorax. This means that lymphatic fluid is leaking into his chest, and the reason is unknown. When there's fluid in the chest, it puts strain on the lungs, and they cannot function properly.

We have already spent over $6,500 in emergency vet visits and diagnostics/tests at the specialist to come to the conclusion we are at now. Batcat is, aside from this problem, a very healthy and young 2-year-old cat with his whole life ahead of him.

Batcat needs another round of diagnostics (CT scan, cultures done) followed by a surgery to locate the leaking lymphatic duct and close it off. This is an intense and expensive surgery; the vet estimated us a cost of $8,000-10,000. We do not have this kind of money to pay upfront but are fighting so hard to find a way to help Batcat.

I am normally not one to put myself out there and ask favors from others, but we are desperate to resolve this in a way that ends with Batcat getting to live out the rest of his life.
