Help fundraise for Sandburg DREAM Team: Gamma
We are DREAM Team: Gamma, one of the three robotics teams from Carl Sandburg Middle School in Mundelein, Illinois. Recently, we were invited to compete at the FIRST Lego League Razorback World Invitational to be held at the University of Arkansas from May 16-19! Our robotics team is made up of seven amazing 6th grade girls that won "Best Robot Design" at our local qualifier and then advanced to the state championships in Elgin where we earned the "Best Teamwork" award!
At the Razorback World Invitational in May, we will represent Illinois and will compete against 70 other top robotics teams from around the country and the world, including countries such as China, Korea, and Brazil! This year's theme for FIRST Lego League was called "Into Orbit." Since August, we have been working hard on building and programming a robot to solve space-themed missions on a challenge board. At the same time, we researched together, with the aid of local scientists, teachers, and engineers, to develop an innovative solution that would protect astronauts from cosmic radiation when traveling through space. Now, we are ready to show what a team of girls can do in engineering and coding to all of the teams at the Razorback Tournament!
In order for us to go, we will need to raise $7,000 that includes tournament registration, travel costs, and lodging while at the University of Arkansas. We are working hard from now until April to raise money together as a team, but our coaches created this GoFundMe to help cover the rest of the costs. We understand that money can be tight at this time, so please know that even $5 helps get us one step closer to making this dream a reality! Thank you so much!
