Hi, my name is Samyu hari and I am a 9th grader at the John Cooper School in The Woodlands, Texas.
On Dec 2nd, the South Indian city of Chennai experienced unprecedented torrential rains and resulting flooding that has killed hundreds of people and displaced thousands of families. Many are stranded without food, water, proper sanitation, medicine, medical attention and shelter.

I am raising funds for the victims of the floods through a dance program that I will be performing here in Houston. I am an Indian classical dance student/performer and have been learning under my guru Dr. Rathna Kumar for the Anjali center for Performing Arts in Houston for the past 9 years.
We suggest a minimum of $25 as donation for the cause. You can also write a check directly to udavum karangal and request company matching, if your organization supports the same.
100% of the funds raised will go towards an orphanage home that was destroyed in the floods through an organization called "Helping Hands or Udavum Karangal". Please see details below for more information on the organization, http://www.udavumkarangal.org/Houston/Default.php
We will be working with the local chapter of Helping Hands to ensure that the money is utilized for the rehabilitation of the affected victims directly.
About Helping Hands:
“Helping hands or Udavum Karangal” caters to about 400 orphans, mentally challenged and abandoned /battered children and women in Chennai, India. Their orphanage was flooded and they have lost everything in this disaster and are now working towards building the orphanage from scratch. Please see the link below for more info on the organization. 100% of the proceeds from my performance will be going to this organization to help rebuild the lives of the helpless children and women.
