My Mum Marianne sadly lost her husband to cancer this year in March 2025, Sammy passed away & was laid to rest in Cairo, Egypt after treatment did not save him.

My mum is left heartbroken as they were each others everything, she has been nothing but positive since but she went through an ordeal in Egypt travelling together but arriving home alone without him.

She is devastated she has nowhere to go & visit over here even though she feels as though he is always with her.

They had a massive passion & love together for Abbey Wood park which is on their doorstep & they use to go there daily, even when his illness got worse they would still go for walks arm in arm & he would give himself a rest on the nearest bench to take in the scenery.

The park initially told her they don’t have the capacity for a memorial bench which really upset her but I have since been in contact with the council & informed they will replace older benches in the woodlands area which is where the 2 of them use to do the 5 hills challenge (she still does this alone now). I have started the process ensuring we can get a plot.

My mum & Sammy have touched a lot of hearts over the years with their kind & generous natures.

As a family we’re asking if anyone who knows them would like to donate anything towards this bench we would love to surprise her with this personalised memorial bench in their much loved park.
