On the 26th of March 2024, during the blessed month of Ramadan our beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Humma Zafar, returned to Allah after bravely fighting cancer. She was first diagnosed in 2023 and later faced a relapse, enduring nearly a year of treatment with immense patience, strength, and faith. Despite everything she went through, Humma remained incredibly brave and resilient, never allowing her illness to define her or take away from the kindness in her heart.

Humma was one of the most caring and selfless people we knew. She always put others before herself and was constantly looking for ways to help those around her. Giving was a huge part of who she was. She loved participating in charity events, hosting Islamic gatherings, and opening her home to family, friends, and members of the community. She regularly gave charity to those who were deprived and suffering, both locally and internationally, including causes close to her heart such as Palestine.

Humma was extremely well known in the community and deeply loved by many. Her warmth, generosity, and sincerity left a lasting impact on everyone she met, and her loss is felt deeply by all who knew her.

As a family, we are raising funds with the intention that the reward goes to Humma as sadaqah jaariyah — ongoing charity that continues to benefit her in the akhirah.
Our intention is to donate the funds to Palestinian Orphans (MATW Project).

MATW Project: Founded by Ali Banat in 2015, Muslims Around The World Project (MATW) is a global humanitarian organization operating in 24 countries. Driven by a 100% donation policy, every penny directly aids those in need. Ali Banat, inspired by his terminal diagnosis, turned his personal tragedy into a worldwide mission of kindness, now impacting over 96 million lives.

Allah says in the Qur’an:

“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed that grows seven ears; in every ear there are a hundred grains.” (Qur’an 2:261)

And:

“Whatever good you give is for yourselves, when you give seeking the pleasure of Allah.” (Qur’an 2:272)

We are also reminded:

“Every soul shall taste death, and you will only be given your full reward on the Day of Resurrection.” (Qur’an 3:185)

We kindly ask everyone to donate, no matter how small, and to keep Humma in your du‘as. May Allah forgive her shortcomings, have mercy on her, grant her Jannah al-Firdaws, and allow every contribution to be a source of light for her in her grave and a means of ongoing reward.

Ameen.
