Charity Fundraiser: The Zahra Trust
﷽
As-Salamu Alaykum,
This year I'm turning 21, but i want to take some time to reflect on what this milestone means.
When people began asking me what I want for my birthday I realised that I truly don't want anything. My family and friends have showered me with so much love that I already have everything I could wish for. I have clean water, a roof over my head, food on the table, and how many times have I truly thanked Allah swt for these basic yet crucial necessities?
Every year we recieve gifts and celebrate excessively, and whilst i am eternally grateful to my family and friends who make this day special for me, (May Allah swt reward you all) how beautiful would it be to spend less time making wishlists and more time giving back to our community?
As Allah swt states in the Holy Quran:
"Spend in the cause of Allah and do not let your own hands throw you into destruction ˹by withholding˺. And do good, for Allah certainly loves the good-doers." [2:195]
I'll be honest, I hesitated starting this fundraiser as I thought the target was too ambitious, but I have complete trust in our community and pray that together we are able to not only reach this target but surpass it. And if we don't, then the money raised will still be of benefit.
Please consider donating even £1 in this blessed month of Rajab!
May Allah swt reward you all for your intentions and your efforts.
