RISE for displaced Ukrainians in Moldova
Dear YSP friends and colleagues,
It has been a week of tragedy for our European region.
It’s estimated that 600,000 Ukrainian women and children have been forced to leave their country so far, and the refugee crisis has hit neighbouring countries hard. Moldova for example has the lowest GDP/ capita, and around 26,000 people have reached their border until now. Nonetheless they have embraced refugees and given what they can.
Our colleagues in YSP Moldova have been working first hand with these refugees, collecting and distributing food, clothes and hygienic products. Hearing their experiences brings much needed perspective to the gravity of the situation. We’re incredibly proud of our Moldovan volunteers who exemplify our key values of responsibility, integrity, service and empathy at a time when it is needed most.
To support them we have started collecting donations; if you are looking for a tangible way to help - we can guarantee that this money is going directly towards much needed support for displaced Ukrainians.
To minimize transferral costs, donations will be collected by YSP Germany before being sent to YSP Moldova.
We will be sending updates as they continue their work, with yours and our support!
Now more than ever we see the importance of peacemaking initiatives and a global citizenship mindset - peace starts within every one of us. Let’s continue to support one another, together we will make an impact.
With love,
The IAYSP Europe & Middle East team
