Reviving Hope in Musa’s Village: Clean Water, Safe Nurseries
Donation protected

My name is Fiza, and I’m reaching out with a deeply personal mission—one that began years ago when I visited The Gambia and stayed in Nema Kunku village (the ancestral village) of my dear friend, Musa, just outside Banjul. What I saw there changed me forever, and today, I’m asking for your help to give back to a community that has stayed in my heart.
Why This Matters:
During my visit, I was welcomed with open arms by Musa’s family and neighbors. But behind their warmth, I witnessed struggles that shook me to my core:
* Children’s Futures at Risk: The village nursery—a place meant to nurture young minds—had crumbling walls, no safe play areas, and barely any learning materials. Toddlers sat on dirt floors, their potential stifled by the lack of basics we take for granted.
* The Daily Fight for Water: Every day, women, men, and children walked *miles* under scorching heat to collect murky water from the nearest village. I’ll never forget the exhaustion on their faces—a burden no one should bear.
* A Sacred Space in Ruin: The village mosque, the heart of spiritual life, had a roof so damaged that rain soaked worshippers during prayers. Yet, the community still gathered, resilience shining through the leaks.
Why I’m Acting Now:
Musa’s village gave me more than hospitality—it gave me perspective. Years later, their struggles still haunt me. I promised myself I’d find a way to help. Now, with your support, we can rewrite this story.
How Funds Will Be Used:
Every pound will go directly to three life-changing projects:
1. Clean Water Access: Install a solar-powered water pump in the village, ending the grueling walks for safe drinking water.
2. Renovate the Nursery: Repair walls, create a safe playground, and provide learning kits (books, toys, mats) to give children the foundation they deserve.
3. Restore the Mosque: Fix the roof, repaint walls, and ensure the prayer space is dry and dignified—a sanctuary for worship and community gatherings.
* A Personal Promise:
This isn’t just about charity—it’s about solidarity. Musa’s village taught me the meaning of resilience and community. Together, we can honor their strength by lifting the burdens they’ve carried for too long.
* Join Me:
By donating, you’re not just fixing a roof or building a well. You’re showing Musa’s village—and every child, parent, and elder there—that they’re seen, valued, and supported. Let’s turn their hope into action.
With gratitude,
Fiza
