Reuniting a Mother and Daughter: A Journey of Hope
Donation protected
Dear friends and compassionate supporters,
I am urging you all to come together to support my sister Satvir, as she suffers from the tragic loss of her loving husband Gurjeet, who lost his life to end-stage kidney failure. His passing has left a profound void in our lives. Everyone who knew Gurjeet will agree that he was the most caring and beautiful human whom everyone loved to be around.
In 2006, Satvir and Gurjeet embarked on a journey to Australia, filled with dreams and aspirations. They welcomed their only daughter Jasleen in 2008, who was born and remained in India with her grandparents. They dreamt of bringing Jasleen to Australia; however, their dreams were shattered as they found out that Gurjeet had severe kidney issues while he was undergoing his medical examination for permanent residency. Because of that, they were unable to get PR in Australia, despite spending over a decade here. They wanted to fight and appeal for permanent residence; but eventually decided that their money was better spent on his treatment than lawyer fees. So, in 2017, they went back to India for his treatment. It was in fact under these unfortunate circumstances that they got to spend time with their daughter together.
All their savings soon ran out since he was put on dialysis soon after, due to end-stage kidney failure. All of us were broken by the news, but they never gave up. They persevered with his treatment. They never approached anyone for financial help, undeterred by the struggles they faced over the years.
Despite the hardships, we found hope when a kidney donor emerged, allowing for a life-saving transplant. Satvir made the difficult decision to move to Canada in 2022 to save funds for his much-needed transplant surgery, leaving their 13-year-old daughter in India to help take care of him.
Tragically, on January 1, 2024, Gurjeet passed away from a sudden heart attack, while Satvir was thousands of miles away in Canada. She had to take the earliest flight available to get to India just in time for his funeral.
Satvir’s struggles don’t seem to end. Her life just got harder as she now has to navigate the challenges of raising their now-15-year-old daughter alone.
She is now determined to bring their daughter to Canada, as she cannot bear to leave her in India yet again, alone, while she grieves the loss of a parent.
Unfortunately, without permanent residency in Canada, government assistance is not an option for her. Thus, I am reaching out to you, our extended community, to help secure their daughter's future by assisting them in the journey towards a new beginning. Your generous contributions will enable Satvir to provide a stable and nurturing environment for Jasleen, ensuring she has the opportunities she deserves. The funds raised will go towards their daughter’s immigration and travel costs, education, and medical insurance.
Every donation, regardless of size, will make a significant impact on their lives. Your support will not only help reunite a grieving mother with her daughter but also contribute to building a brighter future for a young life affected by so many unforeseen circumstances.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support during this challenging time. Together, we can make a difference and bring hope and healing to our family.
