Sweet Gabby was found by a Good Samaritan named Ashley who was walking her dog on May 15th . Her dog Olive sniffed out a cat in the sewer ! This sewer was located by the Cloquet Senior Highschool in Cloquet .
Ashley messaged us at Missing Pets in the Northland and I jumped into help .
Ashley and I had a lot of help from the homeowner , City of Cloquet employees , Cloquet Fire District and Cloquet Police .
The city workers checked on the live trap during the day and Cloquet Police checked on the live trap during their night shifts . Gabby was too scared to go in the trap . On Tuesday , May 21st , Jodi was able to retrieve Gabby with a net from the 5 foot drop into the sewer system .
Immediate veterinary care was given . She was extremely dehydrated and on the brink of death when she was found . Two days later her poor extremely emaciated body went into septic shock . She ended up having a seizure but recovered and is currently being treated with fluids and antibiotics ! She spent one night at Blue Pearl ER . I have been doing round the clock nursing care for her .
She’s the sweetest cat ! She started purring instantly when she was saved !
She survived being down in the sewer system for at least 1 week if not longer , she deserves a fighting chance at life !
