"Rescue Ray's" Eye Removal Surgery!

We here at Fallen Oak Equine Rescue & Rehabilitation, Inc. would like to introduce to you this BEAUTIFUL, 12 yr old Arabian/QH mare named "RAY". She was surrendered to us on Thursday, June 1, 2017. Poor Ray has a SEVERE eye injury that has been untreated or even looked at by a vet for over 6 months that we know of. Ray's eye has NO vision in it and the eye has also shrunk in it's size from being so BADLY DAMAGED.

Sadly, there is no saving her eye and it is EXTREMELY PAINFUL! So the damaged eye needs to come out ASAP!

Our vet wants to wait at least a week before we do the surgery, so our sweet Ray can settle in. In the mean time, we are going to get Ray updated on her Coggins, vaccinations (including Tetnus), farrier, teeth and deworming. We have also started pain meds to help relieve some of her pain and to keep her confortable until surgery day.

Ray is underweight and also came in with shoes on all 4 feet. Her hoof growth looks to be at least a good 6 months and somehow those shoes have not come off. Poor girl has been walking with them like this for so long AND we were also told that the person who surrendered her to us mentioned that they were STILL RIDING her. Just breaks our hearts knowing the PAIN that this poor mare has gone through for so long.

We don't know the true history of our new girl Ray? BUT, from here on out, she will live the life that she most definetly DESERVES!!
