The band room at Pretty Prairie High School was broken into. instruments and materials were vandalized just days short of the schools end of year concerts. I'm raising money to help the Band rent instruments for their upcoming concerts and/or replace instruments and materials that were damaged.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: From Music Teacher Anjeanette Ramirez at Pretty Prairie USD 311

Thank you to all the directors, schools, and individuals that have reached out to help us.  After cleaning and assessing the last few days, we have discovered that the damage is not as severe as was first thought.  No student-owned instruments were damaged and no concert music was damaged.  The district lost 3 baritones, 1 tuba, an alto saxophone, a mellophone, a Clavinova piano, all the drum heads in the room along with many mallets and sticks, and some method books.  USD 308 has graciously offered to loan us anything we might need until the end of the year and we will be taking advantage of their hospitality.  Drum heads have already been ordered and the tuba is currently being repaired.  It looks like we are going to make it.  We are in the midst of compiling a list of losses for insurance and hope to have total replacement.  Again, thank you for all the support and encouragement that has been poured out.  We are overwhelmed with gratitude.

Thank you to all who have donated over the last few weeks. Mr. Koch and I (Mrs. Ramirez) are so grateful for all the support you have shown us. Music education is indeed valuable and necessary for all of us to develop fully as humans. Thank you for helping us get back on our feet and for standing with us as we continue to teach music to children.

We are still waiting on a decision from the insurance company and so we are not sure yet how the funds will get spent specifically. If the insurance company replaces the items that were damaged, we will use your funds to purchase items that will enrich the music program.

Last Friday, April 26th, Senseney Music Inc. of Wichita, the Yamaha Corporation, and the Evans drum head company partnered together to provide us a new Yamaha Clavinova piano and replacement of all the drum heads that were broken free of charge. We are so grateful to them for lifting those burdens from us.

Again, Mr. Koch and I want to express our deepest gratitude to friends, family, and alumni that have given money to restore the music program here at Pretty Prairie and to lift it to new heights in the future.

Thanks again Hunter for taking the initiative!

Hello! I have added one of the Music Teachers at USD 311, Anjeanette Ramirez, as an administrator on this campaign. Here is her statement on behalf of the school:

I set an original goal of $1,000 dollars, but because of continued generosity I’ve been raising the goal amount incrementally. In just over 24 hours we’ve raised double the original goal amount! The campaign has been shared 180 times and raised $2,000. I’m going to raise the goal again to $2,500 and see what happens.

Thank you for your support!
