"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela.
The Abas Manneh Memorial Academy - formally known as Sanchaba ECD & LB School - were founded in 1985 by a veteran educationist the late Mr. Abas Maneh as a community based school for underprivileged children so they have solid foundation in their quest to acquire education .
The chill started as a small class in a rented home. However as the school gained reputation and enrollment the landlord increases rent, which forces Mr. Abas Manneh to move the school to his unfinished house for sustainability.
The current location of the school was allocated to by the late Alkalo of Brufut, Alh. Kalifa Sano for the recognition of the service and contribution the school is making in Brufut. He also framed a lot of otherwise school dropouts as teacher assistants and later as teachers when they completed the governments sponsored teachers training at The Gambia College.
The school has previously sponsors from Norway and the UK which are phased out. Due to its affordability and quality, the school continued to be a household brand in the community therefore making it hard to manage the running cost hence maintaining the vision and mission of the institution ‘affordable’ relevant and quality educational opportunity for all children of Brufut, irrespective of background.
The school has since expanded and started enrolling students for Primary School Education in the year 2016, today they enrolled about 600 students for both ECD & LB.
With this resolute of late Abas, Hopefully all of us will support Brufut Sanchaba ECD & LB now renamed in his memory as "Abas Manneh Memorial Academy" in the overall development in the school.
Please help us to fulfill his dream, which was to give every child in the community the chance for a quality education.
Thanks in advance. Much love & god bless,
Sainey Manneh
