Remembering Hazel Austin

Donation protected
On the morning of January 1, 2018, at 8:30 am, we awoke to news that Hazel passed from complications due to cancer. Over ten years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and for the most part, seemed to have beat the disease.

For over 25 years, Hazel has been like a second mother to many children in the Upstate raising them as her own, including my brother and me.

She was an example of hope for anyone that was so fortunate to have spent time with her. Hazel was the kind of woman who, even the first time you met, felt like a mother. She was one of the most selfless, kind, and humble people you'd ever meet.

Hazel was in remission until March of this year when it was discovered that she had bone cancer that metastasized. This occurrence spread fast and it was nearly impossible for her to recover. She will be remembered as a bright shining beacon of love and warmth to anyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.

She leaves behind a beautiful family, whom she loved with her whole heart. Given that she does not have the resources to pay for the entire funeral, receiving support from the community and her friends would be extremely helpful and very appreciated

All donations will go towards funeral costs, which are estimated at $9,649.

Any remaining donations will go to the American Cancer Society in Hazel's honor.
