Rebuild Hope for Brian & Emily Post-Flood
Donation protected
Update: After 10 days it appears that the water has crested, the truck is totally submerged, the water level has reached the top of of the door of the house, God only knows how long it will take to recede. We are grateful to those of you that have donated and I can assure you that the money will go to good use in rebuilding Brian & Emily's dream home. Please pass this story with the link to your social media, family & friends. God Bless!
I'm raising funds for my son & his wife, Brian & Emily Veitch to help them rebuild and recover from flood waters that so far reached over 7 feet high from Hurricane Debby affecting their home, shop, vehicles, furniture along with all their remaining possessions. They lost everything except their animals and clothes on their backs, thank God for that! The water is still rising, today is Friday August 9th.
This house is NOT in a flood zone, they had no warning whatsoever – even from state or local officials that it was about to flood. Had little or no time to get 3 cats and a dog out of harm’s way not to mention any possessions or documents or pictures. Tried to get the truck out which was stuck with the tractor and was unsuccessful, had to leave it behind along with his daughters’ vehicle. (That is the truck you see in the picture, which now is totally submerged). They put up all that they could on top of the counters, but since then water has gone way over the top and ruined everything, they thought they were saving. The flood water is still rising and unknown as to when it will recede. Since this home is not in a flood zone no flood insurance was purchased and homeowners will not cover flood. They live in Wellborn, FL.
They were able to find a hotel 40 miles away with only 1 vehicle between them.
We built this house together starting in January of 2022. It had taken a year to build which happen to fall during the last part of Covid in 2022, at that time the materials for building went up trifold causing to go over budget unexpectedly. But finally moving in Christmas of 2022 into their Dream Forever Home with their daughter.
Brian was a meatcutter and manager at Publix for 35 years and they put their life savings into building their retirement dream home. He is also an animal lover; he had put up a deer feeder watching them and seen several births of fawns on his property. He also rescued several animals, dog and cats in the area that were injured, taking in 1 of them!
Emily had a wedding photography business, all of her equipment, cameras, printers, photo booth, camper and trailer are all under water, 100% loss.
To help with some of the extra building costs they rented out a room to a friend and were in the process of building a 1-bedroom apartment in the shop for some income. Most of the materials for this were in the shop, drywall, 2x4’s electrical panels, etc. This room was 40% finished. Not to mention all the tools acquired over the years that are in the shop!
This is their Forever Dream Home so let's help them have some hope and rebuild! Your support will cover mold remediation, drywall, cabinetry, doors, air conditioner, duct work, electrical and anything else that needs replaced due to flood water.
Thank you very much for your support and please pass this on…...God Bless!
