First off, thank you for visiting my gofundme page!
My name is Ray Corrado Knutsen and I am a Norwegian American currently studying for my MFA at the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University in New York.
I was born in New Jersey, but raised in idyllic western Norway in a small town on an island outside of Bergen. There was very little theater for young people while I was growing up, and at 17 I started my first theater company for youths. Entrepeneurship certainly struck me early, and I never stopped.
After earning my BA in Drama and Theater at Volda University College, I returned to the city of Bergen where I was raised and began teaching the art of theater to children and teenagers. I cultivated fruitful partnerships as an actor, director and educator with several groups in and around Bergen, among them MusikalHuset, Askøy Ungdomslag (which I had helped found years prior) and Fyllingsdalen Theater. Fyllingsdalen gave me the opportunity to take over their theater school and I have proudly revamped it into a successful institution for young people in and around Bergen.
The spring of 2013 I auditioned and was given a chance to focus on my own development as an artist when I was accepted at the Actors Studio Drama School in New York, and I am currently almost finished with two of three years at this institution which has pushed me to excel further as an actor than I ever have been able to before.
However, I've ran into a stop and need the help of you all, The Great Magnet. Tuition cost and exchange rates have risen to a point where I'm not able to sustain my education with the amount of financial aid I have available - and I only have a little over a year left until I cross the finish line!
