Rallying for Nessa

Dear Family, Friends & Colleagues,

Our dearest Vanessa has recently been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in an advanced stage.

Being thrust into this new journey towards recovery has already been mentally exhausting, physically demanding, and extremely costly. Since Vanessa is now unable to work and will be experiencing a significant reduction to her income, her ability to cover her rent and monthly expenses has been severely compromised. Even prior to having started chemotherapy, her direct medical expenses that are not covered have included, without limitation, fertility medications and storage fees, prescription drug costs, head caps and linens, a wig and related tools, travel, and parking fees. The increasing expenses will continue during her ongoing chemotherapy, treatment and recovery.

Despite it all, Vanessa continues to spread joy and crack jokes each day with those at Humber River Hospital where she is being treated – bringing smiles to the doctors, nurses, staff, and all others amongst her journey so far. Vanessa’s flair of spreading joy and kindness is profound, and is a gift which has, and continues, to bless many of us. With a huge team of supporters, our collective aim is to lighten Vanessa’s load, allowing her to channel all her energy into the fight for health. We are rallying together to try to remove the financial constraints that have come with this diagnosis as the disability insurance provided will not cover the cost of living.
