I always knew from a very young age that I was going to be a dancer and pursued my studies and training in dance, dance choreography and teaching to do just that for over 25 years of my life. I then moved into sales and management for the last 15 years still holding a very strong interested and involvement in the Arts along the way. In 2012 I had a baby boy, Samuel, who is now 6yrs old and like me, loves to dance and can’t keep still to the beat of a good song. I knew it was time to get him involved so I started my search to find a Hip Hop class for boys in my area. There is some fabulous dance schools in Adelaide however there were little options for boys only and they were all just too far away. At that point I realized that the Western suburbs really lacked an offering that I was looking for, a non-competitive dance for fun dance class for boys. It wasn’t until I took my son Sam to an open day at the Festival Theatre where I could take him on stage, back stage and into the rehearsal rooms to show him one of the stages where mummy used to perform. Standing on that stage again brought an overwhelming sense of emotion and happy tears started to roll down my face. I felt a need to break out into a dance move and envelope the space. Short of embarrassing my son in front of hundreds I withheld! It was at that point I knew how much I had missed expressing myself through movement and dancing and that I needed to use all that wealth of knowledge and experience and return to my passion. So I now want to bring dance for fun to the boys and girls in the Western Suburbs!
THE DANCE SCHOOL!
I am extremely excited to announce that since then I have been working on the development of a new Dance School for the Western Suburbs! DCM – ‘Dance Connect Move’. DCM will offer ‘Dance for Fun’ and creative dance for ages from 2 to 8 + which will include a dedicated pre-schoolers program, an all-boys and mixed Hip Hop/Funk/Groove classes for 5+ and Acro Dance is on the cards. There will be scholarships on offer in time including opportunities to perform at community events. The feedback and interest from mums in the area has been amazing and I hope with everyone’s support we can together create a great DCM Dance Community and offer the children a place to have fun, express themselves, meet and make new friends and build their confidence and resilience. As we progress the intention is to develop more class offerings and experiences which may include kids yoga/meditation, Pop Dance classes for teens and adult Hip Hop or Pilates for the mums, to name a few.
I am currently in preparation working on such things as the right location, timetabling, development of Social Media presence & website. Look out for some intro classes in the next school holidays! My aim is to raise the start-up funds needed to achieve this through Go Fund Me to get off the ground. Currently working towards launching in Term 4, fingers crossed!

TESTIMONIALS
"Kylie is a passionate and talented dancer, choreographer and teacher who worked in all three roles with my companies Essential Talent and Just For Fun the Dance Company from 1995 to 2000. Kylie’s enthusiasm and creativity is matched by her knowledge to guide young dancers towards achieving a life-long love of dance. Adding to this is her ability to be a wonderful role model to young children. I wish Kylie all the very best for the launch and ongoing success of her dance school".
Jane Donavon - Social 8
I have known Kylie since 1999 both personally and professionally. In a professional capacity we employed Kylie as a Dancer, Choreographer & Teacher for a number of years. Kylie’s passion for performance and love for dance was reflected in her commitment and dedication to each job that was put before her. We always knew that we could rely on Kylie for an outstanding and professional performance.
In a personal capacity Kylie is a caring and nurturing person that would do anything for anybody. Her selflessness and compassion has helped her to become a decent person, a role model for others and a wonderful mother.
I can only foresee success for Kylie in her new business.
Tony Carpenter - Essential Talent
"I have known Kylie since she first joined the Seaview Calisthenics/Dance School at the age of four. As her coach for many years I have had the privilege of watching Kylie develop into an accomplished dancer. Her numerous awards and state representation reflect Kylie’s dedication, commitment and passion for dance. Many years later she is still competing and will be performing in the 2018 Pan Pacific Masters Games being held in Queensland later this year. While at Seaview, Kylie was asked to join the coaching group and did a wonderful job of passing on her knowledge and experience to girls of all ages. Kylie’s love of dancing has inspired her to start her own dance school. I wish her all the very best in this new venture and have no doubt that she has what it takes to succeed".
Gail Laing - Principle Seaview Calisthenics
"I first met KylieTonellato when she was a young dance student in Adelaide, and I was a visiting artist. A few years later, Kylie’s audition for Tasdance put her on top of the list for its energy, skill and conviction. We took her into the company and as the new artistic director I was always pleased to have her on our team. A bold and talented dancer, a generous and hardworking person, a collegial and committed dance company member, Kylie will no doubt bring her wealth of experience, energy and ideas to creating a vibrant studio and learning experience".
