Rally for John Godinet
Donation protected
If you are a runner in Frederick County, you probably know John Godinet. He has influenced so many runner and walkers with his infectious smile and upbeat attitude towards running and life. He's the guy at the center of the crowd making everyone laugh with his positive vibe and outrageous sense of humor. He has run numerous marathons, ultras and countless 5K's around Frederick and the USA. John is also an Army veteran.
Sadly, he was diagnosed with ALS in the summer of 2016. ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a degenerative disease that causes the muscles to grow progressively weaker. John is now wheelchair bound and needs a ramp built so that he has easier access to his home. Additionally, we'd like to help him with the mounting medical expenses associated with ALS. We'd love your help in raising money for a guy who has raised our spirits through running. So, if you're a runner or know a runner or have had your life touched by someone with ALS, please consider donating and please share this in your feed.
"I used to care about my time to qualify for Boston and run my own race. But I found it’s not fun when you are running it alone. It’s more fun to make friends, encourage someone that is having a bad day, put a smile on their face." - John Godinet
John taught me not to worry so much about the time. I remember him telling me, "it's not how fast you run, it's how good you look at the finish." That has stuck with me and that is what John does, touches people with his positivity.
We would like to raise $10,000 by Christmas 2017 to help him and his husband Peter with medical expenses.
