Raising for Ryan

Please join us in Ryan’s fight for life…
In February, we unexpectedly gave birth to our beautiful twins, Nadia and Ryan. Nicky was 22 1/2 weeks pregnant and was admitted to the hospital due to bleeding and contractions. We prayed for as many days as possible to give our little ones a fighting chance. They all held on until 23 wks and 4 days when the bleeding became so severe and Nicky’s life too was at risk.
At birth, both Nadia and Ryan were in critical condition. Nadia's heart rate was only at 30bpm (around 100bpm is necessary). Nadia's placenta had abrupted and pathology reports showed that she had been very sick for a while. Doctors told us she wouldn't make it, but she hung in there long enough to give her brother a chance without taking Nicky’s life. The infection she was fighting shouldn't have allowed her to take even a breath but she fought to allow us to hold and kiss her before she became our little boys little angel. We are so proud of her unselfish act. She could have easily given up at week 16 of pregnancy, when bleeding started, but our tough little girl hung on every minute, so she could allow Ryan a chance at life.
Ryan’s condition was a little better with a heart rate of 90bpm. He has been in the NICU fighting every hour since. He has his good hours and his bad. We cry from being scared, worried and happy when he wins his battles. We celebrate every milestone, from changing a diaper to getting to hold him for extended periods of time.
Ryan has recently been moved to Philadelphia to continue his treatment. Although he has tripled in weight, he has a long fight ahead. This move has created incredible hardship for our family, however, we know that it will give Ryan the best shot at life.
We are very proud and honored to have such brave little ones. Our little girl hung on as long as she could to give her brother a chance and our little boy fights for every breath and shows no signs of giving up.
We can't thank you enough for all the support. Your thoughts and prayers are getting us through this extremely difficult time. Please continue to pray for our little boy.
Your generous support will help us take care of Ryan’s incredible medical needs. Any money not spent on Ryan’s fight will be given to support other tiny warriors.
