It is with great sadness and a heavy heart to share that on March 2nd, 2024 our mother Monica Reid has passed. I would also like to add, that although this may be the end for her here on earth. In heaven, her soul in the afterlife has a brighter beginning!
For those who did not know her, she grew up mostly in the church. She attended a private Christian school that my grandparents actively served before their passing. As an adult, my mother followed after my grandparents and spent most her days serving local church's. when she was not serving the church, she was furthering her education and earning certificates in Addiction Counseling. My mother landed many state jobs working with adults and youth & adolescents. To name a few, Trenton psyche, Ancora, Dscyf and other Addiction/ Rehabilitation practices. She poured her heart and soul into all of her professions.
As I stated before, Monica devoted most of her lifetime in many different church's. Mommy loved to travel. If she wasn't at work, she was for sure on the road chasing after her one and only love, Christ. She would travel just about everywhere to chase after God. So far in her lifetime that I have known, Monica has been to churches in New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Georgia, and North Carolina. When she was not volunteering during or after church duties and/or activities, she was used mostly for the gift that God gave her. Which was her voice. It was a healing to others, her voice. Mommy would sing for just about any and everyone who asked (for free). I couldn't count on my fingers how many times she has used her gift for weddings, church services, church events, and funeral's. She even went as far as auditioning for America's Best Talent, American Idol and Sunday's Best. She has been in two singing competitions ( Karaoke idol 2014) in the past and won both based on her experienced vocal skills. My mother was the true definition of BOMB DOT COM!!
My mother made positive impact to all of those who knew her and didn't know her. Rather it was with her angelic voice and/ or her funny jokes. She made light of every bad situation on hand and was the type of woman that would give you shirt off her back, if/when you needed it. she was always there going above and beyond for others including church family, friends, relatives, clients, and co-workers. I admire her all the more, because there were so many times, she was hurt by the love not being reciprocated. She showed the true definition of God's love through forgiveness and support in spite of wrongdoing. My mother was my role model and my best friend. She may be gone in the flesh, but never will she ever be forgotten in the spirit.
On December 21, 2021 Monica suffered from a massive heart attack which resulted in an anoxic brain injury that she never recovered from. Before this, my mother was struggling with congenital heart failure after giving birth to my sister at 43 years of age. For 3 years, she held on for us until her final days until her death March 2nd, 2024.
Some of you have asked yourselves what you can I do to help? How can contribute to this wonder woman of God? With all of the emotional pain and stress that death brings, a financial burden is definitely one of them. My family and I would like to raise money for my mother's funeral arrangements. Specifically, a proper burial is what she would have wanted. Your donation will help ease the financial burden for the family. It does not help that inflation has taking the turn r the worst for most of us, so anything will help at this time.
We appreciate the time you took to read our mother's story and time that some of you spent with her before and during her last days. God bless.
