Moby’s Recovery

Hi! My name is Chandler, and I’m creating a Gonfundme to help support a stray pup my husband and I saved earlier this week. My husband was driving to his parents’ house and saw 2 stray pitties on the side of the road. This area is remote and rural, so he felt safe pulling over to try to get them in his car. As pittie owners ourselves, we know how much danger stray pitbulls are in if not taken in Unfortunately, a truck came down the road and hit one of the pups; the other one ran away and we have not been able to find it. Scott immediately scooped the injured dog up and we took him to the emergency vet.

We have contacted Animal Control who listed him in case he belongs to anyone, but we have taken responsibility of him for now. His injuries are severe (but not life-threatening, luckily). He is also malnourished with other old wounds. Moby is covered in crushing injuries and road rash, but the worst injury is a broken carpus on one of his front legs. The vet said it has to be repaired surgically, which is possible.

His initial vet bill was substantial, but this Gofundme will be used to raise money for the surgery needed to repair the broken joint near one of his front paws. He can keep the leg if we are able to afford this surgery—another option is to amputate. We will be consulting with a surgeon next week, but the emergency vet told us that either surgery would likely cost $5,000-$7,000. We would also like to get him neutered and microchipped, but this surgery for his leg is our main concern! He is a really sweet dog who obviously loves humans very much. Even though he is in a great deal of pain, he still wags his tail and tries to get up to see us when we spend time with him. I appreciate any amount you choose to donate to his care; I know we all have so much going on in our lives and your money could’ve gone to something else. Helping animals means so much to me, and you helping us care for Moby is something I will always be grateful for.
