My name is Brooks Mason and I have been a student of the Martial Arts for as long as I can remember. It is my dream to open martial arts schools in the inner cities to help the most disadvantaged children gain the mental, emotional and physical strengths the Martial Arts have provided me.
Opening schools in those areas and training future black belts and instructors to carry on those lessons across the country could be just the beginning of helping people help themselves.
The biggest challenge to achieving this is goal is breaking through the language and cultural barriers that will exist
I have been studying Spanish for two years and now I would like to step it up by spending 6 weeks fully immersed in the language and culture.
I would spend 6 hours, 5 days a week, studying at a Costa Rican Immersion School and then dedicate my evenings training at local gyms with Milton Castro, owner of the largest Martial Arts school in Central America, as well as others mentioned in the video. It will be an intense program, but it is what I need to do in order to come back to the United States and help those who will benefit from the Martial Arts the most. I believe that there is no better instrument than the Martials Arts to positively effect the lives of inner city children.
The fund raising I am doing through this campaign is an all or nothing attempt. If I do not raise enough money to participate in this program, your donation will be returned to you.
I believe there are a lot of like-minded people who would pursue the same goals if they were able.
