Q. needs safer housing!

We are calling for material contributions for our friend and member of our psychedelic community, Q. Maxwell. She is a mental health counselor and social justice advocate based in Brooklyn, NY. At the moment, Q needs our financial support to help her move out of a hazardous and unsafe apartment building. There was recently a shooting outside of her apartment, and the building has repeatedly flooded. The toll of the pandemic has been the greatest on marginalized people, for whom the struggle to find housing and stable employment has deepened.
Q is an activist and truth-teller who has been a pillar in providing care and advocacy in her community. Her voice is a critical contribution to the psychedelic field, where the call for equity must go beyond performative allyship and grow into meaningful action toward structural change. A trainee of the CIIS Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research 2021 cohort, Q brings a much-needed analysis and foundation of social justice to the psychedelic space, as well as a crucial skillset for serving the Black LGBTQIA+ community with these therapies. We call on the community and particularly those with structural privilege to join us in supporting Q obtain the material resources that she needs for her own wellness.
More about Q:
Q. Maxwell is a licensed mental health counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional from Brooklyn, NY. She received her Bachelor’s in psychology from Georgia Southern University and Master’s in forensic mental health counseling from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Q is passionate about her work and brings extensive experience to the table. Throughout her career, she has worked with youth in juvenile detention, families, trauma survivors, people with substance abuse addiction, and those from (intentionally) marginalized communities.
Some of her previous work positions include Crisis Counselor, Mobile Crisis Team Online Counselor, Clinical Forensic Specialist, and Forensic Evaluator. Q is dedicated to making mental health services accessible to marginalized communities and works fervently to break down barriers. As a healer, she anticipates the satisfaction that comes with each session with these clients. Likewise, she derives great fulfillment in the healing she receives from the service.
Q believes that trauma is not an isolated experience but is felt by the community. Q understands that healing is a collaborative endeavor that requires honest caring without judgment. She is dedicated to collective engagement, the inner healer, sex positivity, the Black LGBTQIA+ community, and liberation. She creates a healing-centered space guided by compassion, authenticity, and relationship. Q is warm, open-minded, encouraging, and a hearty conversationalist.
