Hi everyone! The Snohomish Historical Society is raising money for critical improvements to its historic 1878 Blackman House Museum. Please pledge what you can in support of local history!

The Blackman House is a rare, tangible connection to the earliest days of Snohomish, preserving original furnishings and family heirlooms that offer an authentic window into late 19th-century Pacific Northwest life. The building serves as a museum with rotating exhibits, as well as an archive and office. Beyond interpretation, the House functions as an active community gathering space, hosting Parlour Tours, seasonal paranormal events, book readings, and other programs celebrating local heritage.

In the last five years, incidents of trespassing and vandalism have increased. Individuals urinate and defecate on the building; leave garbage and still-burning cigarettes on its porches; and have even set up living spaces in the crawlspace, causing catastrophic damage to HVAC systems that almost resulted in a complete loss of the home. Local 911 operators know us too well!

These incidents endanger both the historic structure and our collections, as well as the safety of visitors, volunteers, and staff.

Northwest Security & Sound has generously offered installation of a comprehensive security and fire protection system that will prevent similar damage, reduce costly repairs, and protect our history. We are asking our Snohomish community to help us invest in these essential security systems and keep the Blackman House standing for another 150 years.
