Pontoon Recovery and Restoration
Donation protected
The recent savage flood has ripped the North Esk Rowing Club’s pontoon from its pylons. This is a heart-breaking event for the 200 rowers, kayakers, elite athletes from the Tasmanian Institute of Sport and cancer survivors from the North Esk Dragon Boat that utilize the pontoon on a daily basis.
Without all-tide water access via the pontoon, these water sports cannot occur. This has a devastating effect on our diverse groups of users, as the performance goals will be undermined, the school programs interrupted, and the physical and mental wellbeing impaired.
On behalf of our water sport community, we are asking for your assistance to get this key piece of infrastructure back up and running.
It is estimated that the cost to restore the pontoon will exceed $100,000. The Clubs’ annual fundraising efforts cover the running costs of the facility, however we not in a position to cover such a significant and unforeseen financial demand. Your help is vital to enable our club activities to resume - please help us!
