Help My Dad Fight Cancer
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Erik Jackson and I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my father, Rick Jackson.
I’m a lucky kid to get to say that I’ve always had a father, and a great one at that. He was always there, always human and never one to shy away from admitting his faults. Most kids don’t get to know their dad, and many of them may have been better off not knowing them at all.
Rick has come down with cancer, and an aggressive form at that. Adenocarcinoma it’s called, and it’s one of the top killers with pancreatic cancer. Even being the man of indomitable spirit that he is, it’s getting in his way, and my family needs some help.
I’ve done everything I can to help support him and Holley, my stepmom, but I’m only a server and don’t make enough to support them the way I’d like to. He recently had to have more of his leg taken off, and in lieu of that he can’t work at all. Holley is post-op herself and can’t work until well into the winter.
I wish things were different, and I could just retire my old man myself, but I can’t. So, I’m turning to the world to ask for some help. I’m very scared, and don’t want to lose my dad, nor do I want to see my parents suffer more than they already are.
He’s a good man, and I hope that the good he’s done will come back to him now more than ever. I hate to ask for any help, but if you can spare anything to ease their burdens, you would find a lifelong respect from mine and my best.
I remember him proposing to Holley on a river float, I remember him walking into the house from a blizzard returning from roofing in Alaska, I remember him building and crashing motorcycles; he was tall, strong and dignified. He’s been my hero my entire life.
Love them while you have them, please.
