Darcy & Mary’s journey
Donation protected
As many of you know my wife Mary was on the last days of her life with a rare liver disease called PBC. Primary biliary cirrhosis of the liver,PBC is a rare disease of the liver that affects 1-3 people out of 4000 after having a couple of donors step up we were given the news that they would not work out so our hopes for her survival hit hard with myself and my 2 daughters we started to prepare for the worst but then after some extensive testing and many out of pocket trips to Toronto I was a complete match what a blessing that was I was given the green light to be her donor on sept 17th at Toronto general and save her life before I signed my last consent to be her donor I was asked if I was sure I wanted to do this because the risk of death for both of us was very possible and I said where do I sign and away we went. On sept17th we went into surgery kissing each other for maybe the last time and on sept 18th we kissed again. The surgery went well and we are recovering well but the medication she needs to survive which is a anti rejection med is very costly and she needs them to live donating my liver was the easy part now her life relies on this medicine any donations will help cover the cost of her medication if you can be a donor please look into it you can save a life too!!
