Hi, I'm Laura. My husband Randy and I are asking for help to cover our cat's current and upcoming medical bills. We are hoping that your kindness will help us not only with the $2500 that we've already spent, but also a little extra to cover his necessary medical and home care in the next few weeks.

Hank was an outdoor cat right up until September 23, when he got all of his rotting teeth removed due to stomatitis. Without one of his major defense mechanisms, Hank would be open to injury from other cats and wildlife outside. So we brought him indoors, and he's done surprisingly well in our downstairs level. My "Good Little Man" keeps me company when I work, and enjoys the view through the sliding glass doors. We were in the slow process of integrating Hank into the rest of the household with our other three cats.

That was, until Thanksgiving Day, when Hank somehow hurt his right front paw. We didn't see what happened; when I went to check on him, he was limping badly and was walking on his right front wrist. We rushed him to the Emergency Vet, where he got X-rays and as many diagnostics as he would tolerate (which wasn't a lot; he is a Spicy Boy). The initial diagnosis is possibly a broken metacarpal, and damage to his radial nerve, which controls his paw and toes. 24 hours later, Hank has not regained any control of that paw. He will require at least one followup veterinary visit, with more diagnostics to determine the extent of the damage and a plan of treatment. In the meantime, we have to keep him in a bathroom and try to keep him stress-free. This poor old street cat doesn't understand what's happening, but he's trying SO hard to be his normal self, and it breaks my heart.

Between his bills, expensive prescription cat food, and my own health issues that have seriously limited my income over the last year, we find ourselves facing an immediate likelihood of not being able to afford future care for our cats. As much as it pains me to ask, I need assistance with Hank's bills. Our cats are our furkids, and not being able to afford their care is crushing us. Thank you for considering a small donation.
