Hello,
My name is Jari and I have been friends with Curtis and Darcee for 28 years. I along with many of you was shocked to hear of Curtis' sudden and unexpected passing. He left behind the loves of his life, Darcee, Dillon and Charlie to whom this GoFundMe will help support with numerous unexpected expenses and every day needs while trying to grieve and figure out how to move forward.
September 10th is a day that will now never be forgotten in the Eremenko family. Curtis was one of the good ones and taken far too soon. He touched so many people's lives that have shared their thoughts and stories on Facebook and it really is heartwarming to read them all. Please keep sharing your stories of him. Curtis was a mentor to many who worked with him at Mr. Lube, he was a friend that was always there when needed, a protective brother and proud son and his most important role was a devoted husband and loving father who took care of his family. Everyone knew Curtis from Mr. Lube and he remembered everyone's name and stories. He was always smiling and happy, I actually can't recall him ever seeming down. Curtis is the centre of so many friend groups and many of us met and are friends with people to this day because of him. Sadly this year he will miss his oldest son, Dillon's graduation. He will never get to see either of the boys grow into young men, he will miss their weddings, he will never get to be a grandpa, he will miss everything that he looked forward to. The last time I seen Curtis, we took a selfie, a moment I will now cherish forever.
Due to private medical reasons, Curtis had been off work for the past year making things a bit of a struggle financially. Darcee picked up as many shifts at the bakery and markets that she could to try and help with finances. But having reduced income and with the cost of living rising it has been a difficult and long road. Darcee, unselfishly put Curtis' health first and stood by his side every step of the way. She was a warrior with the medical system and doctors trying to get answers. The boys and Curtis were her priority all while trying to make ends meet. However this was a complete shock and unexpected event that she did not forsee.
I am asking for any support that you may be able to give. Any relief that we can provide for this family to allow them to take the time needed to properly grieve without added financial stress would be greatly appreciated. And if sharing this GoFundMe page is all you can do then that is enough and I thank you. Curtis' family was his everything and on his behalf, thank you.
Update: The family will be gathering for a celebration of life on October 12, 1:00-5:00pm at Ralph’s Steak House. Everyone is welcome.
