Please Help a Ukrainian Neighbor

Dear friends and family:

It is with the upmost sincerity and hope I write to you today.

Right in our beautiful Saint Petersburg we have a Ukrainian family which today

needs our help and support. The mom and kids came here 2 months before their country got invaded and trampled by Russia. They came here to give their children the wonderful opportunity of an American education. The plan was to go back during breaks and for the summer to be with their dad, family and friends. Unfortunately on Feb 24, all those plans and dreams were shattered.

They cannot go back, for how long, no one knows. Their father is in Kyiv, Ukraine, and as we have seen on the news so often, has made the brave and inspirational choice to stay, to fight for their freedom, his business and to help save their beloved country for his family, and many others, to return to one day.

On top of it all, the mom is pregnant and is due in a few weeks. She has explored and applied for medical and other resources available, and has been denied Medicaid twice. She has reached out to govt officials who say she is eligible, to see how they could help move things along, like her TPS (Temporary Protected Status) application, and has talked to an immigration lawyer due to someone’s kindness who supported that, however, it doesn’t seem that anything will come through before the birth. So she is facing the high price of having a child with no medical coverage. The Father is working very hard trying to help his family but we all know that a country at war is a country with zero infrastructure, so his efforts to get funds to his family is no easy feat.

As a foreigner, but most importantly as a mother, I can only imagine the anguish, stress and fear this mother is going through

I hope that together, we can open our hearts and share a bit of our resources to provide this mother with the proper medical assistance she will need delivering her child safely.
