Pinky's Cancer Fund
As some of you know, I'm Pinky Winchester and I am the Founder and Executive Chef of Pinky & Red’s restaurant located on the UC Berkeley’s campus in the MLK student union building. Pinky & Red's is my only source of income but, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting closure of the campus, we've been closed since March 16, 2020. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in August 2020. I cannot describe the feeling that comes over you when you receive a diagnosis like that, but what I can tell you is it’s a shock to your entire body with the biggest shock attacking your brain. My mind shut down, and I wanted to go it alone. I apologize for not being more present and I’d like to give you an update on my health.I entered the ER with severe pain on August 7 and two days later, I had a colon cancer diagnosis, was recovering from surgery, and learning to adjust to a colonoscopy bag. Four months later, I was again experiencing pain and was quickly admitted for two more surgeries to remove another tumor. I am now preparing for chemo. Now is when I need your help and support as you walk with me through my chemotherapy. I need your support in many ways: I have medical expenses, food expenses, and I need assistance with bills including rent, car payments, insurance, etc. I hope you can help me by donating to my GoFundMe. I am sincerely in need of your continued support and am so grateful for any way you can help. I hope that you will walk hand-in-hand with me through the next steps of my stage 3c colon cancer journey, and my medical triumphs!
